First Look: 2018 U.S. Open Exempt List

To accompany the recent post of the four major venues for the 2018 schedule, here’s a look at the current list of players who are exempt for the 118th U.S. Open Championship which will be contested at the venerable Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, in Southampton, N.Y., June 14-17.

For PGA Tour pros, there are currently seven ways to become exempt. Those that led the way include:

  • Jordan Spieth (4): 2015 Masters Winner, 2015 U.S. Open Winner, 2017 British Open Winner, 2017 TOUR Championship Qualifier.
  • Justin Thomas (3): 2017 PGA Championship Winner, 2017 U.S. Open Top 10, 2017 TOUR Championship Qualifier.
  • Jason Day (3): 2015 PGA Championship Winner, 2016 PLAYERS Winner, 2017 TOUR Championship Qualifier.
