Smylie Kaufman was on fire to start the second round of the Deutsche Bank Championship. Through the first seven holes, the PGA Tour rookie went birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie, par, birdie for a total of 7-under to bring him to -10 for the tournament (he would bogey 8 and 9 to drop a couple of strokes).
Smylie’s hot start clearly fired up the golf announcer on the web broadcast of PGA Tour Live – either that or he had a ton of coffee.
On Kaufman’s approach shot, the announcer gets warmed up when he screams, “when you have it going you have it going.” But he saved his best for Smylie’s putt which rolled around the lip of the hole before dropping: “And it goes hula hooping around the hole and to the bottom!!!”
Many non-golf fans complain that watching golf is “boring” with all its silence and whispering. This guy would most definitely bring some excitement to the national telecasts.
