Top Shot: Lydia Ko’s Amazing Punch Bunker Shot

0

In the opening round of the CME Group Tour Championship, Lydia Ko’s ball landed in a greenside bunker to a short pin, tucked about a foot or two from a meaty lip.

So as not to break her wrists with a follow through, the former world No. 1 is forced to use something of a punch shot to escape. Upon takeoff, Ko’s ball clips the ridge just enough to reduce its trajectory and speed – and then laser beams its way into the hole for a birdie-three.

Ko signed for a first-round 5-under 67 at Tiburon Golf Club and is just one off the lead.
