Valspar Championship: DraftKings Fantasy Golf

0

The PGA Tour is headed to Innisbrook Resort for this week’s Valspar Championship. Charl Schwartzel is back to defend his title, where he outlasted Bill Haas in a playoff to claim his first win in the U.S. since the 2011 Masters.

The host course at Innisbrook will be Copperhead, a Par-71 that maps out at 7,209 yards.

Here is some advice to help you pick the best fantasy lineup this weekend.

Biggest Risk/Reward

  • Patrick Reed $9,700

Reed falls into this category because he hasn’t done anything spectacular this year or even threat to break the Top-25 as of late. However, he has the “it” factor and can win at any moment. Also, it should be noted that he hasn’t missed a cut this season.

High Price Picks

  • Justin Thomas $11,900
  • Henrik Stenson $11,700

Thomas is almost a no brainer – he seems to be in contention every week and already has 3 wins this season. Stenson is coming into the week, healing from the stomach flu in Mexico, but I expect Stenson to be in the Top-5 with the strength of this field.

Mid-Level Picks

  • Charles Howell $9,400
  • Gary Woodland $8,900
  • Charl Schwartzel $8,800
  • Graham DeLeat $8,400
  • Luke Donald $7,800

Howell is a solid pick week-in and week-out (7 Top-15s). Woodland and DeLeat are also playing very well this season, each racking up 4 Top-25 finishes.

Donald and Schwartzel are both past champions of this tournament, including Schwartzel’s playoff victory last year.

Best Bang For Your Buck

  • Wesley Bryan $7,500
  • Martin Laird $7,400
  • Ollie Schniederjans $7,100

This very well could be the week either Bryan or Schniederjans get their first PGA Tour victory and both are playing very well as of late. Laird has been one of the most consistent players this season – 8 events, 5 Top-25s.
