The 2017 Australian PGA Championship tees off this week at RACV Royal Pines Resort. The tournament has been the signature event of the Australian PGA since 1905, and co-sanctioned by the European Tour since 2015.

Prior to 1964 the tournament was contested using a match-play format. The list of winners during the stroke-play era is quite impressive, and includes the likes of Gary Player, Peter Thomson, Hale Irwin, Greg Norman, and Seve Ballesteros.

The 2017 edition field will be headlined by Masters champion Sergio Garcia, along with Aussies Adam Scott and Marc Leishman.
