TaylorMade Gets Marketing Boost With Convenient Grouping

0

In case you missed it, the trio of Tiger Woods, Jason Day and Dustin Johnson were grouped together in what is (not even debatable) the marquee group of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Of course, Day and DJ have been long-time TaylorMade Tour players, but thanks to the news of Tiger signing with TaylorMade this week, the Carlsbad-based equipment maker received a big time marketing boost with the (very-convenient) pairing of the three TM-playing superstars.

Day, the current world number one, plays the M1, while DJ (#3) and Tiger (#663) play the M2 model.

And speaking of branding, note in the graphic how the TaylorMade-Adidas marketing folks block out the Nike logo on the shirts of both Tiger and Day, while showing off the Adidas logo on DJ. No accident.

Ironically, Justin Rose, TaylorMade’s other big-name star in the field, got no love – yet sits atop the leaderboard at 7-under-par. Meanwhile Woods (+4), Day (+1) and DJ (+1) are a combined 6-over par through 15 holes.
